So do you guys ever still think about how bizarre this place is, or do you pretty much just get used to it after a while? It's weird as hell, the stuff you just start accepting after a while – you don't even think about how most of us came from a place where cats don't hatch out of eggs.

(...I say "most" because some jerk out there's going to pop up and prove me wrong, you just watch. Even if you also hatch your damn cats, I'm pretty sure there's something here that's out of the ordinary.)

I don't know if there's much point to this, but there's not much point to anything that goes on around here, anyway. I don't know, even if this place is better than whatever's going on back home, sometimes you miss being useful, too. Another thing to get used to, I guess.

...No, really, I am getting sick of the kittens-from-eggs thing. I'm going to have more cats than I do Swablus at this rate.

If you wanna talk weird, I'm sure there's much more ridiculous things going on here than just having cats come out of eggs. Seriously, have you seen Grimer?

And it may not be home, but don't say you're not useful. It's just in a different way from what you're used to.

Oh, god, I'd forgotten those things. Aren't Grimers those...piles of sentient sludge that came to life because of something to do with the moon? ...Ew.

As for the usefulness thing, it's not like I'm pining really hard or anything. I'm just suited for some pretty specific stuff and it's weird to not have that here.

I wish I could tell you when I started to accept just how crazy everything is here, but I honestly have no idea when it happened. Maybe by the six month mark? No, I think it was earlier than that. Eventually you just can't take the amount of ridiculous things that are happening here and you just learn to accept everything. I think it happens pretty early for most people.

I've been here a long time and I still miss being useful. I guess that's something that's not going to change for me, but my life's been pretty hectic.

I think that's it, though - it's not really the usefulness so much as it is how slow everything is here. I'm used to there being a lot of stuff to do, even if I couldn't do what I was trained to do right away; there's nothing that really compares here so it kind of feels like there's not a lot of point to anything. I don't know, I'm probably not making too much sense but I think you probably know what I mean.

...As for the Espurrs, my horse really likes my cat. And I hate that there's any reason in any world whatsoever for that sentence to exist.

I do, yeah. I had some issues like this back home too. It's why I joined the military in the first place. I thought I'd be useful there. So I understand where you're coming from. There really isn't anything close enough here.

Why don't you adopt some of them out?

They're useful enough if you give them stuff to do and don't just let them stand in hallways like we're in The Shining.

It's more of an "...Again?" sort of thing. You'd think they'd get sick of creating more of them after a while.

I think they enjoy it too much to stop. It's like the stray cats in my neighborhood. But I don't think you can get them fixed like stray cats.

It sounds like you need to work on keeping a closer eye on your Pokemon, if that's the case.

While I do not come from a world where cats come from eggs, I can understand why they happen to here, if nothing else.

Look, if my horse and my cat want to have some sort of Darcy and Elizabeth love affair, I'm not going to stop them because in this case Darcy can set me on fire whenever I try to ride him and Elizabeth can punch me in the brain.

But I'm interested in this why, if you've got one.

Considering the fact that this world's existence mirrors that of a video game for children, it makes sense that the breeding mechanics would be so...strange. I assume that they chose eggs not only for that reason, but to actually provide an incentive to breed since a trainer could carry eggs with them while on their journey, instead of having to wait around for Pokemon to be born at a breeding center.

Actually, yeah. We've all got our share of weird stuff, I think - it's just that this place is a really, really specific sort of weird.

But go ahead, I'm curious now.

Hopping through timelines, a pillar that's holding up another world by two women, beings that are summoned initially by hardships, gods branding normal human beings to do their bidding... Things like that.

Back home, though, if I jumped down a ledge at least I could get back up the same way.
